Partynight

This will be a rambling post because of a slight hangover I may eventually suffer from.

I'm not actually a partygirl, but for some reason I have been out partying two weekends in a row now. Last weekend because it was Fashing (a big carneval thingy here in Munich and some other places), and that meant a chance to party like a unicorn

 And yesterday my sneaky friends invited me to watch the finale of "Melodifestivalen". The swedish competition to decide who to send to the Eurovision Song Contest. We made it fancy with a fancy dinner. And coctails. I had planned on maybe one coctail, and then go home to bed. That one coctail turned into a whole bottle, and before I knew it I was out clubbing.

At one point in the club there was a guy with a very... special way of picking up a girl. When I first noticed the guy he was standing right in front of me, about two meters away, pointing. At me. Using his whole arm. It was so unexpected me and my friend couldn't help but laugh at him. And not only that but a moment later someone tapped me on the shoulder. When I turned around another guy was standing there saying "My friend..". About there I stopped listening and, still laughing, shook my head and said no.

It may be dark in a nightclub, but if you point like this I can still see you. (I know this is a picture of Obama, but it was the best I could find.)

I haven't had a guy sending his friend to ask me out or if I want to dance since I was twelve. 

But I have to give them some cred. Other guys tried to pick us up by dancing behind our backs thinking we would notice and find it hot. And others tried the "why introduce myself politely when I can touch you butt"- technique. But when that wingman came up to me all I had to do was say "no", and he said "ok" and left. It makes me happy. For once a simple "no" was enough! No trying to convince me or calling me bitch for not wanting to dance. I was left to keep on having fun and enjoy myself with my friends.

And so I landed in by bed six o'clock this morning with a smile on my face.

And woke up four hours later feeling not great, but that's beside the point.

Boardgames! Boardgames everywhere!!

So I went to a boardgame convention last saturday :)

I had no idea it even existed, but apparently it does. One of the perks of living in Germany, I guess.

Me and le Boyfriend woke up early saturday morning in order to have as much time at the convention as possible. After a quick breakfast we got on the U-bahn towards the convention. The closer we got, the more excited Boyfriend got, and just before we reached the building he was literally skipping along the street, happily chanting; "Boardgame convention, boardgame convention :D".

We managd to get free passes through a friend of Boyfriend, who worked at the convention, and so we walked into the hall and.... Wow! Not only was there a lot of booths with different companies promoting their games, there was also table after table with people just playing games. Because (and this is the best part) in the middle was a big game library where you in exchange for your ID or drivers licence could borrow any game you wanted (provided they had it of course). You could also try out games at pretty much any of the booths.

I got to play a lot of new games, but also some that I knew from before.

Sadly enough we never played Dominion even though that had been the plan. Somehow we never got around to it.

Had this event ever taken place in Sweden, the crowd would have consisted only of hardcore tabletop nerds (and me). But here in Münich you could find almost anyone. I saw a lot of families who'd braught a picnic that they would eat between trying out new games and discussing wether any of them were worth buying. Although I think most of the people were university students who simply enjoy tabletop games.

I think what made the day so nice overall was the atmosphere. It didn't matter if you were a nerd or not, or if you knew all the rules by heart. If you needed help, there was always someone there to help you, and if you lacked players, you could always just ask any random person if they wanted to play with you. There were even people emplyed there whose job it was to help explain the rules or be that extra person missing.

And there's so much I haven't even mentioned yet. Like the Ticket to Ride tournament. Or the Settlers from Catan bus. Or the giant Tac table. Or the Lego exhibition. The list goes on forever.

I can't wait until next year!!

God morning, sunshine

Today is a good day. I have no idea why, but I just woke up and was so incredibly happy! The sun is shining, I actually BAKED bread for breakfast, and then I did grown-up bank stuff while eating it. And it's not even ten thirty yet. I seriously have to go and do something irresponsably and stupid now.

...And since I started writing the post the day has passed and I have.. Made homemade meatballs... The fact that I spend this much time in the kitchen is a sign that I have too much free time. Is the vacation over soon? I'd like to go back to school now.

Anyways. I went out too by a new tire for my bicycle, and came back with a book. The weather was awesome, and I actually had to take my coat off because I was so warm. In other words, things are as they should be. But my bicycle is still broken, and I still need to fix it. But then on the other hand, I have something to read. Yay.

I bought "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern. I haven't heard of it before, but it looks like the kind of book I will like.

This didn't turn out to be a very coherent post. It's mainly about what I did today. Although I didn't mention everything. Like the fact that I bought tofu. And sang very loud, and very falsly while cooking.

I'm just going to go and read my book now...
